PM Receives IMF Mission Head

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received a delegation led by Head of IMF Mission in Armenia Hossein Samiei.

Highly appreciative of the ongoing cooperation between Armenia and the International Monetary Fund, the Prime Minister thanked the IMF for providing continued technical assistance for Armenia’s economic reforms. The Premier felicitated the newly appointed IMF Resident Representative Yulia Ustyugova on appointment and wished her productive work.

Describing the cooperation with Armenia as quite effective, the IMF Mission Head welcomed the reforms initiated by the Government of Armenia. On behalf of the IMF, Hossein Samiei expressed satisfaction with the work done this year to improve tax administration in Armenia, qualifying it as a significant achievement and expressed the hope that progress would be continued in this direction.

Mindful of the need to build on the joint efforts, the Prime Minister and the IMF Mission Head discussed a number of issues related to the proposed cooperation program. The parties also exchanged views on the macroeconomic indicators stated in 2017, the reform program for 2017-2022, as well as on the upcoming amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia, the Government’s fiscal and monetary policy, and other issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation.
