Government Discusses Legislative Amendments on Enhanced Safety Regulations for Installation and Operation of Gas Cylinders
Chaired by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, a consultation was held in the Office of Government to discuss legislative amendments aimed at streamlining activities related to installation and regular certification of gas cylinders for motor vehicles to run on compressed natural or oil gas.
It was reported that the proposed amendments are meant to streamline the complex of activities related to the installation and periodic certification of gas cylinders for motor vehicles to run on compressed natural or liquefied petroleum gas, as well as to protect consumers’ rights, improve service quality and ensure proper control.
The amendments provide that the Government of the Republic of Armenia shall be vested with the authority to establish a procedure for activities related to the installation and periodic certification of gas cylinders for motor vehicles to run on compressed natural or liquefied petroleum gas, and a set of requirements and standards applicable to the production base of organizations performing these activities and the qualification of engineering personnel. Control mechanisms will be set up, envisaging administrative liability for those violating the established requirements.
Stressing the importance of the proposed amendments, Karen Karapetyan pointed out that they provide for enhanced safety level in the installation and operation of gas cylinders in essence and on principle.
