“You have a fantastic opportunity to take a share in our country’s governance process”- PM Meets with YES Armenia Program Participants
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received YES Armenia Program’s young experts who are involved in different projects of ministries and other State agencies.
Welcoming the guests to the Office of Government, Karen Karapetyan pointed out that working in the system of public administration is quite an exciting experience. “There are serious challenges facing public administrators and, in general, management systems all over the world. I expect you to refresh the public administration system. Public administration first of all needs people who are brave, energetic and free from stereotypes,” the Head of Government emphasized.
The Premier expressed the hope that upon program’s completion, many would like to continue working in the public sector. “You have a fantastic opportunity to manage larger systems. I believe it a great ambition to run a large-scale business. It is also a great motivation, if we consider that you are participating in decision-making; one cannot imagine a greater motivation,” Karen Karapetyan said.
Touching upon the government’s activities, the Prime Minister noted: “Our team has a gradient vision of how the country should develop, where to go, and that vision is now being shaped and materialized.”
During the meeting, the young experts presented their observations, suggestions concerning the State governance system, as well as the shortcomings. In particular, they referred to the management of agriculture, education, science, energy and other spheres.
Asked about the development of agriculture, the Prime Minister stated in part, “In macroeconomic terms, we are satisfied with the vector outlined by the Ministry. And if we succeed in implementing other programs, as it was the case with the leasing program - introduction of hail-proof nets, drip irrigation systems and intensive orchards - I am sure that we will have a great tide of development since we have a sales market,”
Under the Yes Armenia program, implemented jointly by EU partners and the Center for Strategic Initiatives, 21 young experts from Armenia and the Diaspora have been involved in public administration. They went through a complicated selection procedure along with more than 300 other applicants.
