Karen Karapetyan: “We have decided to maintain the current configuration of government during this period”
Acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan referred today to his Saturday meeting with President Serzh Sargsyan. Answering the question on the nomination of the future Prime Minister, Karen Karapetyan presented his point of view.
- Mr. Prime Minister, you met with President Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday: what questions were discussed during the meeting? Specifically, did you touch upon the upcoming changes, namely the question of future Prime Minister?
- I reported to President Serzh Sargsyan about the work done by our team. We looked at the current status of affaires, our vision of future action, and how we should achieve it. I am convinced that in fact, we have very good opportunities for success in the coming years.
In our predictions, we will have economic growth and, in the case of a political dialogue, we can make fundamental, long-term reforms and also clearly understand how to do it.
Yes, we also touched upon the question of Prime Minister’s nomination. We talked about the Constitution and the new system of governance. We agreed that ensuring a smooth transition to the new governance system is of paramount importance in the face of the problems and challenges facing the country.
Considering the achievements we had under the present configuration, we have decided to maintain the current configuration of government during this period, that is, we decided to set forth Serzh Sargsyan’s candidacy as the first person in government because, I repeat, it is extremely important to move towards the new governance system smoothly, efficiently, and with minimized risks.
