Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan’s working visit to the United States has kicked off



Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is away on a working visit to the United States within the framework of spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

On April 11, the Deputy Prime Minister met with World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, and WB Executive Director for Armenia Coen Davids.

During the meetings both sides praised the cooperation between Armenia and the World Bank, as well as stressed the importance of the recent Country Partnership Framework 2019-2023 strategic document for the further development of cooperation.

The interlocutors touched upon the steps to take in the coming years, specifically in the field of infrastructure development. In that context, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan presented the main framework of the Government’s proposed reforms.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the continuity of advisory assistance provided by the World Bank, particularly in the areas of capital market development, increase of public administration efficiency and human capital development.

The Armenian Deputy Prime Minister and the World Bank officials discussed progress in joint programs and exchanged views on the steps aimed at improving their effectiveness.

Later, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan met with International Finance Corporation Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia Georgina Baker. The meeting was attended by Director for Europe and Central Asia Vibke Schlomer and Regional Director Jan van Bilsen.

The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the programs implemented by the IFC in Armenia and expressed the hope that the IFC would support the development of the Armenian capital market. He went on to assure that it would promote a more transparent and attractive business environment in the country.
