Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received IFAD Regional Director
On May 23, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received a delegation led by Khalida Bouzar, Regional Director of the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa and Europe countries department of the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD).
Welcoming the guests, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation of the ongoing cooperation with the Fund aimed at developing rural areas in Armenia. Expressing hope that IFAD will continue to implement new projects, Tigran Avinyan stressed that the Armenian government is willing to provide every assistance to the activities of the Fund.
In turn, Khalida Bouzar said that Armenia is viewed as a country of innovative initiatives, stressing that the IFAD-supported projects in Armenia can set examples for other countries.
The parties reviewed progress of the implementation of IFAD-funded programs. Issues related to the furtherance of cooperation with IFAD in the context of ongoing state governance reforms were discussed during the meeting.
There was an exchange of views on the ways of boosting coordination efficiency in agricultural development initiatives. Both sides attached importance to the creation of mechanisms which will ensure the continuation of rural development programs in Armenia.
