Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan Receives World Bank Delegation
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received a delegation led by World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Ms. Mercy Tembon. WB Armenia Office Director Ms. Sylvie Bossoutrot attended the meeting.
Greeting the guests, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked Mercy Tembon for the work done by the World Bank in Armenia, as well as for developing and approving the Country Partnership Framework strategic document. Mher Grigoryan noted the importance of the document for other strategies to be developed. Among important aspects of the reforms stipulated in the Country Partnership Framework, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the development of human capital and infrastructure projects. Speaking about the ongoing judiciary reform, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed their importance in terms of ensuring enhanced protection of human rights and capital.
In turn, Mercy Tembon thanked the Armenian government for constructive cooperation, noting that the World Bank supports the Government and will continue to provide assistance with the planned reforms and visions. Ms. Tembon introduced incoming WB Regional Director Sebastian Molineus, who said that he was glad to take up this post at this important stage for the country and assist with the WB Office in Armenia through joint efforts to implement the reforms and the mutually agreed programs.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the possibilities of cooperation between Armenia and the World Bank, including the process of developing per-sector strategies. The WB delegation expressed willingness to share with the Armenian government the best practices available in this field.
Mher Grigoryan noted that the Bank’s expertise and analytical potential would be highly valued at this stage of reforms.
