Tigran Avinyan Received the IOM Delegation

On June 6, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received a delegation led by International Organization for Migration (IOM) Regional Director for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Argentina Szabados.

Welcoming the guests the Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the ongoing cooperation with the IOM aimed at building Armenia’s capacity in the fields of migration policy and legislative improvements. He stressed the need for taking practical steps in order to harmonize IOM programs in Armenia with the government’s priorities.

Presenting IOM’s current activities, Mrs. Szabados highly valued the ongoing effective interaction with the Armenian authorities. She stated that the IOM is ready to support the Armenian government’s programs in the field of repatriation.

The parties discussed different aspects of cooperation between Armenia and the IOM. They exchanged views on matters relating to migration flows from the Middle East. Both sides highlighted the actions aimed at raising the effectiveness of IOM’s Armenia Office operations.

During the meeting, reference was made to migration conditioned by healthcare factors.
