Tigran Avinyan Receives UNICEF Representative in Armenia
On October 25, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received UNICEF Representative in Armenia Tanja Radochay.
Tigran Avinyan noted that the Armenian government pays special attention to the protection of children’s rights and development of human capital, which is an important precondition for social and economic progress. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister highly valued UNICEF’s activities in Armenia.
Tanya Radochay presented UNICEF’s current programs and initiatives in Armenia, noting that the Organization has achieved significant results over the past 25 years in fulfilling its mission, while child welfare has made progress in the country, as a whole. She expressed satisfaction with the government’s sustained focus on the protection of children’s rights. Tanya Radochay noted that considering the Government’s initiatives to promote population growth, they are prepared to support the implementation of pro-family policies in Armenia.
The Armenian Deputy Prime Minister said the Government understands that investing in children’s welfare is an investment in Armenia’s future. He stressed that by providing favorable conditions for children and adolescents the authorities will promote the formation of an inclusive society
Tigran Avinyan and Tanya Radochay explored ways of increasing the coverage of preschool institutions in the regions and took note of statistics in this field.
