Mher Grigoryan Congratulates Newly Appointed Canada Ambassador on Taking Office
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan attended a gala reception on the occasion of the assumption of office of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Armenia Alison LeClaire, and the 28th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Canada.
The Deputy Prime Minister delivered a congratulatory speech, in which he stated:
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and on my own behalf, I sincerely congratulate you on your appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Armenia. I wish you every success in your mission. I believe that your appointment will give fresh impetus to the ongoing Armenian-Canadian dialogue and will go along way towards developing and deepening the friendly relations between our two countries.
Over the past 28 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Republic of Armenia and Canada have built up a solid foundation for cooperation. The Government of Armenia highly appreciates the friendship bonds with Canada. We state with satisfaction that our partnership has been tangibly upgraded through joint efforts.
I want to emphasize that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s official visit to Armenia was a significant event in our bilateral relations. We sincerely believe that all the prerequisites have been created for strengthening and deepening cooperation between the two countries.
The Armenian people and the Republic of Armenia greatly appreciate Canada’s support in strengthening democratic institutions and civil society in our country.
I cannot help emphasizing that the Armenian community of Canada has made a valuable contribution to the development of relations between the two countries. In this context, I would like to express our gratitude to Canada for official recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the declaration of April as a month to commemorate, condemn and prevent genocides.
In conclusion, I would like to compliment all of us on the ongoing effective cooperation and wish prosperity and lasting friendship to the peoples of our countries.”
