Commission for Coordination of Activities to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus Holds Meeting
On March 13, 2020, the Commission for Coordination of Activities to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia met in the Office of Government, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan. The novel coronavirus-related situation was discussed during the meeting, including details of those Armenian citizens’ arrival, medical checkup and quarantine to be evacuated from Rome on March 15.
Passengers will be provided with medical masks and all necessary safety measures onboard a charter flight due from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport at 21:30, Yerevan time. The newly arrived passengers will be quarantined for 14 days.
The meeting next discussed the dynamics and the economic impact of shrinking tourist flows. The Commission members suggested that staff at suspended state educational institutions should get full remuneration during the proposed deadline of March 23. The missing part of the academic curriculum shall be supplemented by means of extra classes; exams will be organized later. Online learning initiatives are welcome these days.
The need for media outlets to provide accurate and evidence-based information on coronavirus was highlighted during the meeting. The Commission considered the possibility of transferring part of staff at state institutions to remote work. Appropriate instructions were issued to that effect.
