Commission for Coordination of Activities to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus Holds Meeting
On March 12, 2020, the Commission for Coordination of Activities to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia met in the Office of Government, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated:
“Good afternoon,
We are holding another meeting of the Commission for Coordination of Activities to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus. You may know that yesterday we had new COVID-19 cases registered in Armenia. In addition, we quarantined 57 people who had been in direct contact with the infected people. They will be quarantined for the next 14 days.
On Sunday, another charter flight will be organized by the Government of Armenia ib cooperation with the International Airports of Armenia and one of the Armenian air carriers. I think we will discuss the measures to take with regard to those people who will return to Armenia onboard this flight, and make appropriate decisions.
We should also consider introducing a certain institution of responsibility or more specifically understand how we can ensure the effectiveness of the actual isolation of those in home isolation.
Even the World Health Organization is not recommending the isolation and quarantine of all persons entering a country, since this is physically impossible. But we need to discuss the conditions applicable to those people who are in home quarantine at this point of time, and we must make a decision to that effect.”
The meeting discussed issues related to external and internal measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus, the expected economic impact, and development scenarios.

The Ministry of Healthcare was instructed to suggest options for applying liability with regard to those in breach of the home self-isolation regime. The Deputy Prime Minister instructed all government departments to tighten the ongoing preventive measures.
