A distance learning platform is being launched, referred to as heravar.armedu.am
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has initiated the heravar.armedu.am remote learning platform for organizing the education in public schools online amid the novel coronavirus situation.
The platform, which is already available, has been developed by the National Center of Education Technologies under the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
To discuss issues of effective organization of distance learning facilities, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Janna Andreasyan held a consultative meeting with Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport officials, as well as representatives of educational institutions and platforms with experience in organizing distance learning.
The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of concerted efforts in organizing the educational process, which implies combining alternatives and opportunities.
The Ministry has already tested the remote learning platform’s possibility in two schools this year, and now all schools will be involved in the process.
“We have a wealth of online resources and tools for organizing distance education. There are schools with successful experience in the field of distance learning. We have asked them to share their experience. We are trying to mobilize the potential available in the given field to make distance education effective, open and accessible to all,” Zhanna Andreasyan said.
According to the Deputy Minister, preparatory work has been carried out during the past two days at the National Center for Educational Technologies. A comprehensive distance learning webpage has been launched to provide a systemic list of all schools in the country, according to subject teachers and pupils.
The unified platform created by the National Center for Educational Technologies will also feature distance learning platforms for all organizations that are willing to collaborate with the Ministry by providing their resources and skills.
The Deputy Minister stressed the need for abiding by Education, Science, Culture and Sport Minister’s Directive N 1677-A / 2, dated December 17, 2018 “On ensuring children’s online safety: guidelines for children” and “On ensuring children’s online safety: guidelines for parents,” which are available at https://lib.armedu.am/resource/27385.
Technical support-related and other questions can be addressed to the Rapid Response Team at the National Center for Educational Technologies at 010/011/578455, 010/011/578453, heravar@ktak.am.
In the near future, all schools will be provided information on ICT-trained mentor-teachers who will provide online training, as well as technical support and guidance for teachers.
