The dog handlers get professional training during the state of emergency
Preventive measures are being taken against coronavirus at SRC’s Canine Center. The area of the center gets disinfected every day. The employees’s temperature is measured twice a day and hygiene rules are strictly observed at the center. To protect the tracking dogs from the potential coronavirus threat, the specialists work in masks and gloves. The dogs also get disinfected after the training.
During these days, the canine center’s trained dogs are taken out of the territory in urgent cases. However, at Meghri customs checkpoint, the constant service continues.
During the state of emergency, some of Meghri’s employees underwent a long-term training at the canine center, dog handlers’ domain-specific knowledge was enriched, the dogs’ performance and physical fitness were improved. Two dog handling cynologists trained in Uzbekistan held theoretical and practical training for the employees of the division on the origin and development of cynology, dog psychology, general and specific training.
They continue improving the physical fitness of the dogs at SRC’s canine center. The dogs are being trained to detect drugs and psychotropic substances in close to real life environments, especially in passenger cars, postal department, customs checkpoint and rooms resembling apartments.
Alongside the training, the customs servants have planted over 300 trees at SRC’s canine center.
