Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan Travels to Syunik Marz
On January 29, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan traveled to Syunik Marz of Armenia, where a consultation was held with the interagency working group, established to coordinate the activities underway in Syunik Marz with a view to identifying and promptly responding to any problems as may arise during the implementation of the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.
Addressing those present, the Deputy Prime Minister said: “Dear colleagues, today we are facing a challenging situation, when the emerging problems are not only of socio-economic, but first of all of security character. They call for prompt response and maximum accuracy. Our meetings and observations made during the day gave us a more comprehensive idea of issues high on the agenda, the details of which we are going to discuss in a substantive manner. However, I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm that the central government stands by Syunik in all respects in resolving all issues. Moreover, the government has already started developing and implementing concrete measures that will positively change the economic situation while providing solutions to the most pressing issues.”
During the day, the Deputy Prime Minister visited Goris, Vorotan, Shurnukh and Kapan communities to get a first-hand view of the overall situation, identify the socio-economic and security challenges on the ground. Issues calling for urgent and long-term solutions were discussed with the locals and possible solutions were outlined.
Tigran Avinyan’s working visit ended up in Kapan, where a consultation of the above-mentioned interagency working group was held. The Deputy Prime Minister presented the results of the discussions held with the residents of Vorotan and Shurnukh communities, according to which new houses will be built for those families who have lost their apartments.
Construction will start next week. Each member of the families left homeless will get lump-sum financial assistance of 300 thousand drams. Moreover, before construction is complete, each member of said families will receive 68 thousand drams for at least 6 months.
Detailed reference was made to the whole complex of problems that existed before or emerged after the hostilities, including security measures, agricultural work, and the protection of the population. Relevant instructions were given concerning the planned activities and the timetable.
