Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan held a video call with EU officials
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan held a video call with Vassilis Maragos, Head of Unit for Eastern Partnership in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood, Richard Tibels, Head of the European External Action Service’s Eastern Partnership Division, and other senior EU officials. Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin was in attendance.
The Deputy Prime Minister first thanked the European side for supporting Armenia in the process of evaluating the emergency budget programs. Highlighting the importance of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, Mher Grigoryan said he was pleased with the completion of the ratification process of the agreement. The interlocutors discussed the process of developing the 2021-2027 EU-Armenia multi-year cooperation program and emphasized its importance for the development of interaction.
The meeting next focused on the main directions specified in the Annual Action Plan for 2021. Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stressed the need for the Government of Armenia to be backed by the European Union in its efforts aimed at achieving socio-economic recovery in the face of the humanitarian crisis caused by the global pandemic and the war.
Both sides stressed the need to apply the financial instruments implemented by the European Union with a view to restoring economic activity in Armenia. Reference was made to the furtherance of Armenia’s interaction with the EU within the framework of infrastructure programs.
