Mher Grigoryan Meets with WB Regional Vice President
On the margins of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan held a videoconference with Anna Bjerde, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia. RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan and several deputy ministers attended the meeting from the Armenian side.
Highly appreciative of the ongoing cooperation with the World Bank, especially amid the global pandemic and during this challenging post-war period, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the Government’s steps aimed at dealing with the current social-economic problems in the country. Mher Grigoryan highlighted the World Bank’s support of the social assistance programs, as well as the joint work in the health sector in an effort to meet the primary needs caused by the COVID-19.
The WB Regional Vice President assured of the Bank’s readiness to provide continued assistance to the Republic of Armenia, in both financial and technical terms.
The interlocutors touched upon the proposed snap parliamentary elections in Armenia, stressing their importance from the perspective of strengthening democratic values and stabilizing the internal political situation.
Reference was also made to the vaccination process and the Armenian government’s policy in this regard. Anna Bjerde informed the Deputy Prime Minister about the possibility of WB assistance in vaccine procurement.
