750 new jobs available in 8 companies
Today RA deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan gave a news conference at the Government’s press center. He referred to the government-initiated amendment to Republic of Armenia law on VAT in April, 2009 stipulating that 3-year deferment on VAT payments shall be made available to those companies importing goods to a total amount of AMD300mn and over. This step was undertaken in the framework of the government’s anti-crisis program, with 8 out of 9 applicants having been granted this privilege.
A number of key parameters were taken into account in granting this privilege: eligible companies should have at least AMD 300mn-worth of investment potential and ensure no less than 50 jobs. The following entities engaged in a variety of spheres, including good industry, tourism and telecommunications, have so far been granted the facility: Natfood, Shamb Business, U-com, Arax Poultry Plant, Estate Management and Administration Company, Golden Grape Armas, BIGA and Saranist.
These companies have generated 750 new jobs altogether. According to Ara Petrosyan, the Ministry of Economy monitors the activities of these entities on a regular basis. In conclusion, the deputy minister emphasized that the actual number of jobs available proved beyond all expectations.
