To make a better use of water resources
For the time being, there are no monopolies in the fishery facilities of Ararat marz and there will be no such phenomena in future. According to “Armenpress” news agency, RA Minister of Nature Protection Aram Haroutunyan denied the widespread rumors at yesterday’s news conference by noting that monopolies are not likely to occur due to the fact that several entities have carried out sizeable investments in this area. In the words of Mr. Haroutunyan, the Ministry has suggested all concerned companies from Ararat and Armavir marzes to cooperate for proper organization of water resource management activities.
“We consider it unacceptable that the existing farms remove waste water through the drainage system. There are other questions as well to be streamlined in this field,” – the Minister said.
Note that there are currently 147 and 87 such entities operational in Armavir and Ararat marzes respectively.
According to A. Haroutunyan, air pollution threats in Yerevan are kept in focus, and monitoring is underway at this point to ascertain the situation.
In opinion of the Minister, it is still early to speak about the development of uranium deposits in Armenia. Therefore there is no danger from an environmental perspective. “Uranium is dangerous only when enriched. The findings of those surveys carried out in Soviet era were put on record and transferred to Russia. Currently these documents are being studied and further steps will be outlined in advance,”Mr. Haroutynyan concluded.
