Today RA Minister of Urban Development Vardan Vardanyan gave a news conference at the Government’s press center. He presented the current stage of rehabilitation work and future activities in the disaster zone. The Minister stressed that 1624 families are scheduled to get housing in the disaster zone during 2010 (1056 in Gyumri, 306 in the rural communities of Lori marz, 220 in Spitak and 42 in Stepanavan).

Housing is allocated by drawing lots. 6 such lots involving 810 households have already been cast for distribution of housing in Mush residential district of Gyumri town. The winners have been allocated 3-, 2- and 1-room apartments. The rest of apartments will be distributed by this June 25.

Speaking about future action, Mr. Vardanyan advised that a total of 59 blocks of flats with 3030 individual apartments will be built in Mush and Ani districts of Gyumri. 408 residential houses will be commissioned in the rural communities of Shirak marz, including 192 in Akhurian. 220 houses will be commissioned in Spitak by this July 15. 173 houses have already been distributed in 8 villages of Lori marz , with 112 others to be commissioned by July 15, 2010.

Vardan Vardanyan next referred to the procedure established for housing assignment. Involving 24 villages in Lori marz, Spitak town and some 11 settlements of Shirak marz with a total cost of AMD 26bn plus AMD 39bn for Gyumri, the program is due to be completed in the year 2012.

2183 residential houses will be built in Spitak, as well as Shirak and Lori marz rural settlements altogether.
