State Revenue Committee representatives to be placed with taxpaying entities

The cabinet session held today in Gegharkunik marz regional center Gavar town was followed by a briefing dedicated to the government decision on the list of taxpayers set to host State Revenue Committee representatives in 2010.

The briefing was presented by deputy head of State Revenue Committee Rubik Kocharyan. He advised that SRC representatives will henceforth be appointed to a number of eligible taxpayers in Armenia. The government has approved the list of those 24 taxpayers to host tax authority representatives.

As assured by Mr. Kocharyan, all of these entities were selected according to a number of criteria, namely the previous year’s annual receipts should have exceeded AMD 4bn, with 500mn dram worth of imports stated in each any quarter. On this very basis a shortlist of 120 companies has been proposed by the government.

“Some groups were selected in this shortlist as for the time being the State Revenue Committee deems it inexpedient to have representatives with certain categories of taxpayers, including the spheres of consumption, energy supply etc. As a result, 24 entities were selected,” Rubik Kocharyan said.

He further noted that the representatives so appointed will check upon the sales levels of target companies. Rubik Kocharyan prioritized the application of the new VAT statement submittal system which will allow SRC representatives to monitor the sales level without having to interfere in corporate activities.

The SRC deputy head advised that a number of criteria were taken as a basis for representative selection. All authorized representatives shall have at least 3 years of professional experience, as well as a year of stock-taking and surveying experience. They shall have never uncured any penalties. Mr. Kocharyan stressed that this is a pilot project.
