Cash register introduction and application requirements presented

A draft government decree on simplified mode of introduction and application of cash registers was approved at today’s government session. The Government’s press center hosted a briefing involving Deputy Head of State Revenue Committee Rubik Kocharyan as keynote speaker to comment on the draft at issue. According to Mr. Kocharyan, the given draft provides for simpler rules for the use of cash registers. This first of all concerns those requirements formerly applied to the procurement and handling of cash registers under which economic entities had to conclude a contract with another entity on the maintenance of cash registers in the deadlines and in the manner agreed upon by the parties.

“Very often the process was delayed due to time bottlenecks. Under this draft decree, entities need not sign a contract like this with third parties. Cash registers may be repaired by entities themselves,” Rubik Kocharyan said.

Strict and rigorous rules on the use of cash registers were said to have been in place since early last year. As Rubik Kocharyan said, the above strict rules proved quite useful at that point as economic entities were not familiar with the workings of cash registers and, for this very reason, could not fix them on their own in case of possible breakdowns. Now, economic entities are free to decide whether they need to sign a contract with specialized entities or not.
