The process is being simplified
The Government of the Republic of Armenia is set to facilitate the import and export of animal foodstuffs. To this end, today’s cabinet sitting approved a number of draft decrees.
In this connection, Minister of Agriculture Gerasim Alaverdyan told the press conference that followed the cabinet sitting that the proposed decrees seek to reduce the number of papers to fill in by farmers while importing and exporting foodstuffs of animal origin.
According to the Minister, the government invalidated the previous decree which specified the procedure to follow in drafting customs declarations. The farmers will no longer have to lodge an application for additional expertise, should the imported and exported products have already been subject to duly certified laboratory tests. All this is aimed at boosting fish-breeding in Armenia.
Concerning the bio-fertilizers produced in Armenia, Minister of Agriculture Gerasim Alaverdyan said that following a series of successful tests conducted on an area of 30 hectares, Azotovit-1 and Azoceovit-1 bio-fertilizers are currently fabricated in our country. In his words, the Ministry of Agriculture has been directed to wage an awareness raising campaign in order to promote the use of bio-fertilizers in Armenia.
“When in Ararat marz recently, we were able to witness the good performance of these bio-fertilizers. They may help ameliorate the land stock of Armenia,” Gerasim Alaverdyan stated. He went on to note that the locally produced fertilizers will make of Armenia a self-sufficient country in this field. Note that the fertilizers are currently imported from Russia and Iran.
According to the speaker, within some 2 or 3 years it will be possible to export the home-made bio-fertilizers which are fabricated in Yerevan.
