No fees to be charged for motorcar registration
During the press conference that followed today’s Cabinet sitting, Head of Police Alik Sargsyan commented on the government-approved amendments to the list and procedure of motorcar registration.
There are vehicles only used a couple of months a year.
By this decision of the Government, the owners will be allowed to register and conclude insurance contracts only for the period of use of of such vehicles.
From now on, the procedure at issue will not be deemed as a registration one, and users will not be required to pay 5000 drams as stipulated in the previous decree.
“Those using their motorcars at odd intervals turned out to be the main losers of the insurance campaign. This initiative has a well-defined social impact benefiting especially the rural population,” Alik Sargsyan pointed out.
Country people were said to use agricultural machinery for only a couple of months a year - during the harvest campaign. They can henceforth have their cars registered free of charge for 2 or 3 months only.
Besides, after the passing of said amendments, to re-register a temporarily unused vehicle the owner will not be required to produce a standing coupon of overhaul or registration, neither will they have to present a ticket of mandatory insurance because in case of temporary suspension the certificate registration and the license plates will be surrendered to traffic police.
Alik Sargsyan advised that while there is no mention in the draft decree about the returning of registration plates to the citizens, “a collegial decision will be made to enable car owners to get back their plates.”
