Ministry of Finance internal audit findings summarized

The government’s press centre hosted today head of Ministry of Finance Internal Audit Assessment and Financial Oversight Department Sona Gharibyan who summarized the department’s performance for the years 2009-2010.

The speaker advised that the department ensured the oversight of risky spheres in the period under review. As a result, the treasury and the municipal budgets got a refund of AMD 12.6bn, of which 8.4 billion in 2010, and the balance of AMD 4.3 billion in 2009.

Providing the breakdown of shortfalls, Sona Gharibyan noted: “219 officials were punished for those breaches recorded in 2009-2010. 11 cases have been sent to enforcement authorities by the Ministry of Finance, two of which are under investigation at the Office of Prosecutor General.” As to 9 other cases, some 22 claims and 11 lawsuits were said to have been filed in courts.
