The order of the usage of pastures was approved

The Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan gave clarifications about the draft resolution “on setting the order of usage of RA pastures” at the briefing following the government sitting. According to the Minister, there is 1 million 118 thousand hectares of pastures in Armenia, the 30 percent of which is only being used efficiently, and for the development of animal husbandry the most important condition is the provision of the fodder base. For the provision of the fodder base of the livestock the community areas, which have been degradated for many years and are not useful anymore, are being operated. According to Sergo Karapetyan, in case of an efficient use of mountain pastures Armenia will have cheap fodder crops, which will greatly contribute to the reduction of dairy and meat products.

It is expected to make plans of the usage of the pastures, based on the draft resolution, which will provide the livestock, share the pastures into several parts, where the livestock will be fed in a certain order. The Minister assures that this use of the pastures will be quite effective and will contribute to the increasing of the agriculture and animal husbandry in Armenia.
