The start of the annual contest of the IT managers was given

Today at the press conference held at the RA government the assistance to the Prime Minister Vardan Nikoyan, “Synopsis Armenia” CEO Hovik Musayelyan and “VivaCell-MTS” CEO Ralf Yirikyan made clarifications on the launch of the annual contest of the IT managers, created under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Armenia.

The idea of the awards was born back in 2009, when Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited “Synopsis Armenia.” The contest aims to support to increase the qualification of IT managers of Armenia, as well as to improve the management and work organization, giving the managers of various Armenian companies the chance to participate in the trainings held at the world’s high rated universities.

Speaking of the importance of the awards, the assistant to the RA Prime Minister Vardan Nikoyan noted: “IT sector has essentially developed in Armenia in the recent years. It is the result of both Government’s care and the productive work of the private sector.”

The originator of the wards is “Synopsys Armenia”, the sponsor is “VivaCell-MTS”. The company has allocated 20 million dollars for the organization of the training courses.

According to the awards program, each year the government announces a contest to reveal the 3 best managers working in IT sector, who will leave for the university to take management courses. The award winning managers will not participate in at least next 3 years’ contests.

This year’s 3 winners will take a 15-day training course at the Stanford Executive Institute in August. The 3 candidates’ training costs about 50 thousands AMD.

Managers under 40, registered in RA, with maximum 50 employees, may participate in the awards. The education of the candidates, their management experience, English language skills as well as the engagement in the corporate social responsibility programs will be considered when electing the winners. To participate in the awards the participation application form (see http://www.gov.am/am/announcements/), and the reference of the general manager must be submitted to bestit@gov.am el. address. The deadline to make submissions is April 30th, 2011.

“This award partially solves a very important issue: IT managers get a high quality training, due to which a number of companies will be able to increase their effectiveness in the nearest future,” said the Awards Committee Chairman Hovik Musayelyan.

“The goal of the “Best Manager” initiative is to guarantee the competitive advantage of one of the most important branches in our country IT sector and to increase the level of the management. Effective management is a key factor in the future development of our country; therefore we are obligated to assist such an important national project, encouraging the further development of the IT sector. Thanks to this initiative, the managers who will increase their knowledge in the field will share it with those around them, enhancing the scope of the access to their knowledge,”
said the Awards Committee Member, “VivaCell-MTS” CEO Ralf Yirikyan.
