Killed Servicemen’s Families To Get 21% Higher Benefits
Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Head of Social Insurance Service Head Artem Asatryan met todasy with journalists at the government’s press center.
The speaker dwelt on the legislative amendments concerning the pensions and benefits provided to killed servicemen’s families.
Prioritizing the level of relief accorded to the families of servicemen killed in the Artsakh war and in duty, Artem Asatryan advised that monetary allowance available to 5,300 families has been increased to AMD 30,000 of September 1, instead of AMD 10,000, plus 20,000 drams payment for each child in a family.
The deputy minister informed that either the payment procedure has changed: eligible families will henceforth get the money under a separate chapter, not as part of their family benefit.
Thus, the amount of relief has grown by 21% (for example, such eligible households as have two children will get AMD 70 in monetary allowance in addition to the retirement pension instead of formerly applicable AMD 38,500 with the childless families to get AMD 30,000 instead of 23,500 drams).
Note that the second pension provided to eligible members of killed servicemen’s families will be maintained in full. The amount of such pensions may be consolidated with that of allowances due to which the total amount will go up by 5% (for example, the second pension available to children will rise to AMD 30,000, with that of the retirement pension available to elderly family members to increase from AMD 21,600 to 23,000). In such a case, the total sum of the assistance will be provided on the same day from the same source.
To be put on the list of eligible families, households will have to get the needed references from the Ministry of Defense or other competent authority and forward them to the local divisions of Armenia’s State Social Insurance Service.
Besides, some 4 thousand disabled veterans of Great Patriotic War or international military actions will be offered an AMD 5000 increase in allowances. The honorary payments given to those 2800 Great Patriotic War veterans still in life will be increased by 5000 drams to 25,000.
“Due to better financial management and higher cost-efficiency of services, as well as owing to the reform underway in the system of social insurance and introduction of modern technologies, the increase in the State’s welfare support will soon affect other groups of vulnerable households as well,” Artem Asatryan advised in conclusion.
