Certification Cancelled In Public Catering
At today’s cabinet sitting, the government amended a previous decision, invalidating another one in order to harmonize Armenia’s technical streamlining procedures with the EU directives. To this end, the public catering service was removed from the list of those activities subject to mandatory licensing.
As Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan told the news conference following the cabinet sitting, “There are currently 4 different entities delivering catering certificates in Armenia. This is fraught with huge corruption risks, leading to extra business costs. I think the entrepreneurs will soon feel the positive impact of the amendment.”
He noted that a second stage of reform is due next year consisting in reduced tax and customs procedures, new law enforcement mechanisms aimed at bettering the business environment.
According to the Minister, the first stage of reform is already complete in this field, resulting in a 6-point improvement of Armenia’s Doing Business standing.
