26 Thousand Business-Regulatory Legal Acts To Be Streamlined Through Regulatory Guillotine
Acting Director of the National Center for Streamlined Legislation Armen Yeghiazaryan gave the outline of his organization’s tasks and functions during a news conference, which was held at the Government’s press center.
Some 26 thousand business-regulatory legal acts were said currently effective in Armenia, 30% of which will be called off, with 20-30% due to be simplified over time.
The callback procedure will be carried out over the next two years under the Regulatory Guillotine program, complying with the following scheme: removal of overlaps and redundancies within a short period of time and reduction of ineffective expenditures. Simplified regulation will be applied, if necessary.
Armen Yeghiazaryan said that the guillotine will be applied to public utilities, including gas, water, electricity, telecommunications, as well as transport and taxi services.
The speaker said they would appreciate getting recommendations and proposals on their legislative initiatives concerning the tax and customs areas, pharmaceuticals and dental services.
Recommendations are already out for the reduction of telecom licenses.
Note that the National Center for Streamlined Legislation was established in October, 2011.
