Artem Asatryan: “The Audit Chamber states large amount of work done in individual sectors”
“The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has accepted some of the observations made by the Audit Chamber,” Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan told the news conference, which was held today at the Government Press Center (GPC).
The Chamber targeted two areas: the payment of pensions and benefits, as well as effectiveness of the elderly and child day-care programs.
According to the Minister, concerning the current state of affairs, the Audit Chamber stated that a large amount of work had been carried out in the target areas.
He said that stricter control and data correction in recent years have led to significant savings in benefit- and pension-related expenditures. Compared to 2010, the number of pensioners decreased by 10.600, and that of benefit recipients by 2 thousand in 2011.
As for the benefits, information databases have been updated and synchronized with other such nationwide resources.
“Here, too, we have streamlined the information exchange activities and have some positive developments, which minimize the risks available in this field,” the Minister said.
The surveys were carried out in the elderly institutions and child day-care facilities, including 3 hostels and 5 boarding-schools, had to do with the procurement process and were associated with violations of procedural character. The Ministry has agreed with the Audit Chamber’s findings.
The speaker advised that the government streamlined the procurement process in public nonprofit organizations in 2012.
