Doing Business - 2014: Armenia’s Business Environment Ranks Best In CIS

According to the Understanding of SME Ratings – 2014 Report, released by the World Bank and the International Financial Corporation on October 29, Armenia is in 37th place on the list of 189 countries, falling behind Belgium and ahead of France.

During a press conference held today at the Government Press Center, First Deputy Minister of Economy Karine Minasyan presented the 2014 Doing Business Report, noting that there are four more countries on the list this year.

K. Minasyan advised that Armenia has the best business environment among the CIS countries and is the second in the region after Georgia.

To remind, the WB Doing Business Report assesses such regulations as may have a direct impact on the business environment and economic growth, providing the opportunity to compare 10 different fields of activity in the countries under review, including establishment of companies, granting of construction permits, registration of property and other assets, borrowing facilities and so on.

The report is prepared on the basis of the summarized questionnaires filled out by entrepreneurs and public agencies.
