State Science Committee To Invite New Bids For Support Of Graduate Students
Head of State Science Committee by the Ministry of Education and Science Samvel Harutyunyan told the news conference, which was held today at the Government Press Center, that they made an important legislative initiative in 2013 by introducing the bill on scientific and technical expertise, which was adopted in the first reading at the National Assembly.
According to the speaker, the new law will help make a better selection of projects in line with the international standards and enhance research funding efficiency through more effective project implementation schemes.
“We have long been waiting for this law and hope that it will be adopted in 2014,” S. Haroutunyan said noting that a bill on scientific and technical activities and a young researcher program had been introduced in 2013 in addition to 11 contractual (thematic) research funding tenders invited in the period under review.
According Mr Haroutunyan, a number of improvements had been made to the competition proves. In particular, 97 highly productive scientists will be receiving 135 thousand drams in monthly salary throughout 2014. 305,570,000 drams were earmarked to further upgrade scientific infrastructure and logistics base in Armenia.
S. Haroutunyan noted that a series of activities had been outlined concerning the Candle project, including a Cabinet decision on land allocation.
The State Science Committee will invite new tenders for support of graduate students and purchase of new equipment in 2014.
