Minister of Environment Presents Priority Tasks and Projects of the Field
RA Ministry of Environment has two priorities in 2014 – to replenish the endemic fish species reserves in Lake Sevan and create a biosphere reserve in Syunik region.
Speaking at the press conference held at the RA Government press center, Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunyan said that the Ministry plans to implement 23 projects during the year.
According to him, it is planned to implement three projects in Lake Sevan: fish species replenishment, scientific studies and deforestation activities. The State budget allocates AMD 60 million yearly to replenish the endemic fish reserves of Lake Sevan. It is expected to add 166600 Gegahrkunik trout and 200000 summer trout fingerlings to the lake.
Speaking about the creation of biosphere reserve in Syunik region, Mr. Harutyunyan noted that the project budget amounts to 8,25 million euros.
The project area includes ''Shikahogh'' state reservoir, ''Arevik'' national park, ''Sosu purak'', ''Zangezur'', ''Khustup'', ''Boghakar'' state sanctuaries and 20 monuments.
