Minister of Nature Protection: Water use-related activities implemented in Ararat valley

Water use-related activities are being implemented in Ararat valley. This is what Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan told the news conference, which was held today at the Government Press Center. Taking the opportunity, he assured that the Ararat Cement factory-related allegations are baseless and absurd.

“We have repeatedly stated that discussions have been in communities, local governments to introduce the program at issue. Meetings have been held with water-users in Ararat and Armavir marzes to look into the matter and make corresponding arrangements,” the Minister said.

According to Mr. Harutyunyan, as early as last December, Ararat Cement Factory sent a notification to the Ministry stating that the Company was not engaged in manufacturing operations.

“Considering that the irrigation season had not started yet, we carried out a test switch-off of water and were able to detect a number of illegal water users, including fisheries,” the speaker advised.
