60,000 new jobs to be created by 2017
Today’s Cabinet sitting approved Armenia’s long-term strategic development program for 2014-2025. As Minister of Economy Vahram Avanesyan told the news conference following the Cabinet sitting, the program has three major goals.
According to the Minister, the program seeks to boost employment in the country mediating highly paid jobs. “60,000 new jobs are expected to be created by 2017,” the speaker said.
In addition, the program seeks to bring down the level of poverty. “As a second key objective, the program is meant to reduce poverty in Armenia through targeted revenue and welfare policies.” Mr. Avanesyan emphasized.
The program is intended to help the government mobilize the country’s overall potential for the development of a vision of strategic development bearing in mind the current experience, the existing conditions and the global development challenges.
