Suspended is the mandatory car insurance decision regarding vehicles sold years ago without changing the ownership title
The Cabinet meeting decided to suspend until this yearend the operation of the mandatory car insurance decision regarding those vehicles sold years ago without changing the ownership title. This is what Minister of Justice Hrair Tovmasyan told the news conference, which was held at the Government Press Center following the Cabinet sitting.
He advised that the decision relates to those vehicles sold without ownership changes, the former owners of which keep receiving notifications of insurance fines.
“People sold their cars several years ago without completing the needed procedure. As a result, hundreds of people were brought to administrative responsibility after the passage of the law,” the Ministry said.
Mr. Tovmasyan advised that the Police and the Ministry of Justice will help search and find the cars sold in order to help the citizens out of the current deadlock. According to the Minister, the problem will have been resolved by this yearend.
Coming down to the Premier’s instruction to establish a working group to study the legality of street camera-recorded road traffic fines, the speaker said it is necessary to understand how proportionate are the penalties applicable in Armenia in general, that is whether the fines are serving their purpose.
