Probation service to be launched in Armenia
The Government approved today a concept note on introducing the institute of probation service in Armenia.
At the Government Press Center-hosted press conference that followed today’s Cabinet meeting, Justice Minister Hovhannes Manukyan presented the main tasks and objectives behind the launch of the probation service.
According to the Speaker, the probation service is based on the ideology of rehabilitative justice, which implies alternative means of imprisonment to achieve the proposed goals.
The probation service will deal with the following main tasks: non-custodial sentences, help offenders reintegrate in society, restore the social justice and so on.
The concept stipulates that the probation service will be set up within the Ministry of Justice.
