Vulnerable households to get refund of extra spending caused by rise in electricity tariffs
The Government amended one of its previous decisions to enable the reimbursement of extra spending caused by the planned rise in electricity tariffs covering over 105 thousand needy families,
At the Government Press Center-hosted press conference, which was held following today’s Cabinet meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan said that according to data available from the Public Services Regulatory Commission, each family consumes 200 kW of electricity per month on average: 325 kW – in winter months and 180 kW - in summer. Accordingly, the rise in energy prices at the rate of AMD 6, 93 will lead to additional monthly spending of about 1,400 drams.
The present decision seeks to compensate poor families for the expected rise in the cost of power consumption caused by the increase in electricity tariffs and help prevent the deepening of poverty in the country. Thus, the average monthly rate of welfare-aimed family allowances will be up 2,000 drams.
