PM congratulates Yuri Oganesyan on Mendeleyev periodic table 118th element being named after him

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan sent a congratulatory message to renowned scientist Yuri Oganesyan, which reads as follows:

“Dear Yuri Tsolakovich,

I sincerely and cordially congratulate you on International Union of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry’s approval of the decision to name the new 118th chemical element of the Mendeleyev Periodic Table after your name - Oganeson.

Your fundamental research and developments have expanded the boundaries of knowledge, making a significant contribution to the development of such cutting-edge areas of scientific thought that are widely recognized in the world and had a significant influence on the development of a number of directions. You rightfully belong to the galaxy of outstanding scientists, whose achievements have won highest international recognition.

Your scientific achievements stand for a credit to your family and friends, your students and your followers who founded a scientific school, as well as to our country and the Armenian nation. Your example is inspiring many researchers around the world and, of course, in Armenia.”
