Prime Minister briefed on business environment improvement activities in 2017
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan chaired a consultation in the Office of Government to review the course of implementation of Armenia’s Doing Business Initiative in 2017. 20 out of 49 activities planned for the current year were said to have been implemented already. The proposed improvements are expected to enhance our country’s standing by 12 points among 150 countries in the World Bank’s annual report. Note that last year Armenia improved its position by 5 points to the 38th place.
The planned activities seek to simplify the administrative procedures required for starting and developing a business, promote small and medium-size entrepreneurship, protect investors, facilitate the issuance of construction permits, consistently introduce electronic systems, provide easy access to credits, property registration, and infrastructure improvements.
Prime Minister Karapetyan called on the responsible authorities to be consistent and keep in touch with the business community while discussing issues of concern and find solutions to their problems. “We need to start drafting the 2018 business environment improvement program and hold discussions with all interested parties,” the Prime Minister noted in this connection.
